Gorge slopes cleared: land clearing and hillside mulching in Chimney Rock
Storm growth cleared, access reopened and the vine mass along the Rocky Broad River cut back on the gorge slopes above the village, using remote-controlled equipment so nobody stands on the slope.
Land clearing from $1,500 for the first visit. The final price depends on acreage, terrain and access; any return visit is quoted separately.
Chimney Rock Terrain
Chimney Rock sits at the bottom of the Hickory Nut Gorge, where the valley floor is narrow and the walls go up hard on both sides. There is very little flat ground here. Soil is shallow over rock on the slopes, and the Rocky Broad River runs straight through the middle of the village. Property tends to be long and steep rather than wide, which means access is usually the first problem to solve and the slope is the second.
What Chimney Rock Property Owners Call About
Storm recovery still drives most of the work here. Helene reshaped the river channel in 2024 and left debris, broken canopy and fast-returning growth on ground that was cleared before. Owners want access lanes reopened, slopes stabilised with a mulch layer instead of bare soil, and vines cut back off structures and driveways. Sight lines toward the gorge walls are the other common request.

Land Clearing Cost in Chimney Rock, NC
Chimney Rock quotes turn on access before slope. A lot we can enter from above prices meaningfully better than one worked from the road below, and the narrow valley floor limits where a machine can stage. Remote-controlled work on grade covers fewer acres per hour than flat-ground mulching, so the per-acre rate climbs with the pitch.

Chimney Rock Land Clearing FAQ
Yes. Our RCU-55 is remote controlled and rated to 55 degrees*, so the operator works from stable ground while the machine takes the grade. That covers most of the workable slope in the gorge. On the steepest slopes it cannot clear material as large or as high as it does on level ground. Anything steeper than that we will tell you at the quote rather than attempt.
We clear standing and downed brush and grind it into a mulch layer on site. We are not a debris hauling company, so large woody debris piles and anything requiring a truck-out are quoted separately or handed to a contractor set up for it.
More than anything else. A lot we can enter from above prices better than one that has to be worked from the road below, and a narrow shared drive can rule out the larger machine. Send photos of your approach and we will tell you what fits before we come out.
