What Forestry Mulching Costs Per Acre

For the first visit, forestry mulching runs $1,500 to $3,500 per acre for the first visit: light quarter-acre lots at the low end, heavily dense and steep one-acre lots at the high end. Any return visit, such as cutting back regrowth the next season, is quoted separately.

Every forestry mulching job gets a fixed project price before work starts. We do not bill mulching by the hour or by the day, so the number on the quote is the number you pay for the agreed scope.

Why We Price by the Project, Not by the Day

Quotes for land clearing are hard to compare. One contractor names a day rate, another an hourly rate, a third a rough total. With a day or hourly rate, a slow day, a breakdown or thicker brush than expected comes out of your pocket. With a project price, that risk sits with us, and you can line up two quotes for the same scope side by side.

What Moves a Job Up or Down the Range

• Density. Light undergrowth goes quickly. Thick saplings, privet, honeysuckle and multiflora rose, or stems large enough to slow the mulching head, take more machine time per acre.
• Slope. On a grade the machine covers less ground per hour, and the steepest ground needs our remote-controlled mulcher, so steep acres cost more than flat ones.
• Access. Gate width, where a machine can unload and stage, and whether a slope can be worked from above or only from the road below.
• Size. Every job carries mobilization. On a small lot it is a big share of the total, so the per-acre figure looks high while the total stays modest; on a larger tract it spreads out.
• Distance. We cover a 50-mile radius around Rutherfordton. The closer the property, the smaller the travel share of the quote.
• What stays. Trees you want kept, flagged boundaries and work near buildings or fences take more care and more time.

Fence Line Clearing Cost

A fence row inside a larger mulching job is priced per acre, in the same range and on the same factors. A standalone fence row is quoted by its length after we see it.
